Google Places Cuts The Crap With A Hand Job…

June 24th, 2011

From Mike’s post today entitled Some Days Are Shittier Than Others:

Someone uploaded pictures of poo on my business listing and I can’t get them off!!!

Fortunately Google took notice and brought out the pooper scooper. Of course this probably only happened because Mike’s post brought it to GOOG’s attention which will likely leave a large amount of businesses with their own Place Page issues even more frustrated than ever about their inability to get similar quick action.

Warning: Parents – The picture in Mike’s post will remind you of those late night diaper disasters. View at your own peril.

    Great post! ;)

Seriously though… I am glad Google took this nonsense down, but the speed by which they did it is kind of frustrating when so many of us are having problems that don’t ever seem to get resolved. Makes it seem like they just don’t care even more. Now, I’m sure they are busy, but come on… it’s Google… they should have the dang resources to create a scalable infrastructure for Places.

I saw that post earlier on the blumenthals, but I should say that’s the funniest title I’ve ever encountered!

I’ve said it on numerous blogs, Mike’s included and I’ll say it again; “Google’s Local System is broken” the bad of it all is they place it as a center peice of their search results. How can their be a claim of relevance when you have a broken system …

Hey Andrew! Thanks so much for bringing more light to this unfortunate situation. I had reported those photos so many times and posted on the forum and it wasn’t until I used the word “poo” in the title that I got some notice. Those photos were on there for a month! Next time i’ll make sure to put something more attention-getting in my forum thread title first :)
