Canonicalization SEO

If you don’t have a good SEO QA process, make sure you let the SEO guy know when you push new stuff live.  You’re likely to break something.  Better yet, let him know before you push it live.

Good point. I learned the hard way recently.

I’m my own SEO guy. I was looking at my top page in the stats. I decided to try to monetize that page. I added a new paragraph of text and a form. My traffic immediately took a nose dive.

I’m still not sure exactly why it happened. Maybe Google devalues a site when it’s first changed. Maybe I did something wrong.

Luckily, I hadn’t monetized the page, so it didn’t cost me anything but traffic.
