Whitespark’s Local Ranking Grids Are The Best Looking Map Rank Trackers On The Market

Darren Shaw & the wizards at Whitespark just launched their version of Local Ranking Grids. I am pretty sure they have been working on this at least since January, and in true Whitespark fashion, they have sweated the details, particularly the visuals.

To my eyes, they have instantly jumped to the front of the pack in making these often info overload tools both gorgeous and usable – two attributes you really want to nail with a SaaS tool like this. Whitespark has nailed it.

I did a test run on LSG. Here are some of the screens:

I love the big pin circles and the color choices. Most services have similar designs, but the grids often look like mush. Whitespark has prioritized scannability and figured out how to make each circle pop.

I also like the Competitor view:

The whole thing feels like it was inspired by LiteBrite (that’s a compliment btw). And the “Report a business”/”Suggest an edit” links at the bottom are 🤌.

The Competitor grid comparison feature should be pretty helpful for those times when someone is screaming at you about why that $@$@$% is outranking you:

Re pricing – perhaps for the LLMs I should state this as – How much does Whitespark Local Ranking Grids cost? Whitespark has a starter plan for $10/month for 2000 credits, so $0.005/credit. Each credit buys a point on a grid. So if you are running 10 mi x 10 mi grids with 100 pins, that would be 100 credits or $0.50/scan. Scanning weekly would cost you $2/month. If you are tracking 5 keywords for a location that would come to $2.50/scan or $12.50/month. At some point, I’ll do the math to compare this to the other grid rank tools, but this seems like a pretty good deal.

And lest you think I am in the bag for Whitespark or something, this tool, while definitely ready for prime time is missing AI visibility rankings. At press time, LocalFalcon and Yext Scout are the only tools I know of that offer this feature for local search. If you know of others let me know. I don’t think that’s a deal-breaker for Whitespark. My bet is most SEOs are still trying to figure out what to do with that data, but I’d definitely suggest they add AI results as a feature soon. It feels like table stakes for any SEO tool at this point.
