I was working at Overture as a Product Manager and built one of the first mobile search platforms in Japan.  My biggest surprise here is that the size of the mobile marketing market in the U.S. is much smaller than it is in Japan.  M-commerce in Japan is about $1B and it encompasses a broad spectrum of products including being able to buy a train ticket.  (He just showed me his cell phone and it’s pretty cool.)
