So Google Webmaster Tools is telling me that my site has an average rank of 230 for “local seo” in Google Image Search and generated 70 impressions over the past month:

So who are these people doing image searches for “local SEO”? And why is it that I rank only 230?!

Let’s change that shall we?

Is its possible these not true images searches, but a product of mixed results, where Google is showing images mixed with web results?

I doubt GOOG would show images for a “local SEO” query by default

I like the plan. Maybe the answer is that they’re just bots.

How come you used the title tag instead of the alt tag on the image? K_

I would suggest you do a search on Google images for this keyword term and you will find a lot of SEO companies have discovered a real benefit from good image ranking. I have been doing it on all of my web sites and found the following benefits.
    1) Free links from photo thieves who forget to delete my URL
    2) Extra traffic and clicks.
Just make sure to use robots.txt rewrite to eliminate hot-linking or your success at having high ranking images will work against you.
You will be surprised at how much traffic high ranking images produces. I think part of it is poor english skills and searching by images on mobile devices. In any case work on getting your images to show up high. It does work.
