Google Maps Reviews

Miriam Ellis just put together a fantastic post on all of the sites that Google Maps is using as sources for review information for the hospitality industry. Here’s the list:

10best.com
Aol.com
ChefMoz.org
Citysearch.com
Dine.com
DiningGuide.com
Dinnerbroker.com
Frommers.com
Gayot.com
Giatamedia.com
Greenopia.com
Insiderpages.com
Menupages.com
Mytravelguide.com
Priceline.com
RestaurantRow.com
Travelocity.com
Travelpost.com
Tripadvisor.com
Virtualtourist.com
Yahoo.com
Yelp.com
Zagat.com

I recommend checking out Miriam’s post for some great insight into how to use this list to your advantage.

My $0.02 as your Local SEO Guide is that whatever your industry you could probably quickly put together a similar list and discover which sites are the best for you to concentrate on getting customer reviews from.

Thanks to Miriam for putting together this great resource which is great compliment to the Local Reviews Spammers Guide.

I just came across your post and wanted to offer up that http://www.viewpoints.com is a new place to post reviews too– I need to get it in the google local listings! The best part of http://www.viewpoints.com is that people can post reviews on anything and everything! 🙂

p.s. I love reading your SEO posts. You do a really great job!

    Hi Andrew,
I’m so glad you liked the list. It was fun putting that together! I’ve been talking with a retired B&B owner this week, and thinking a lot about the hospitality business and what UGC means to these hardworking folks.

Andrew, did this post ever get Sphunn? I know Jen Laycock meant to Sphinn it, but I never did see it show up…did you? I was looking.

Andrew, let me say ‘duh’ for myself here. I just went to Sphinn, and yes, it’s there. Marty so kindly Sphunn it. How nice!

Thanks for popping by Miriam. If you wrote a good post there’s probably a 95% chance that Marty Sphunn it. That guy is a Sphinn machine.

    Jolie,
    nice looking site.

    Hi,

I was wondering how I can get my website’s reviews to be picked up by Google maps…

    Thanks

    Hello,
I’ve just stumbled on your website. You’ve got a lot of great information in here. I’m looking forward to taking a deeper look in your posts. I work in the industry and I have to say I’ve never seen a yelp review posted in google maps. Even if you search in San Fran (their home base) and type in Italian restaurant, you still won’t see their reviews referenced. Do you have an example of where you’ve seen them?
